Local classifications for a diagnostic report, carried in DiagnosticReport.category where the standard diagnostic service section vocabulary has no concept for the distinction.

Additive, never a replacement. A report carrying one of these codes also carries its standard service-section category, as a separate CodeableConcept in the same repeating element. A reader that does not know this system still reads the report correctly; a writer that omits the standard category in favour of this one does not.

Content is a fragment. One concept is declared here, and this system is not a closed vocabulary: a report may carry a code from it that this specification does not list. Match the codes you know and pass through the ones you do not.

Codes are case-sensitive and are matched exactly, system and code together. Matching on the code alone will collide with unrelated vocabularies.

Nexus EMR writes this today at http://well.company/diagnostic-report-category (FHIR-371): it is live in stored DiagnosticReport.category codings and in code, and is under migration to the canonical declared here. Write the canonical; expect both until the migration completes, and match both addresses exactly rather than deriving one from the other.
